The Alaska Walking Store is a family-owned business that has been a staple in Anchorage since 1980. We began as a children's shoe store, Buster Brown shoes, but quickly expanded to include women's shoes due to popular demand. In the early 1990s, we saw a need for a store that provided comfortable, high-quality, and stylish shoes for Alaskan residents, and The Alaska Walking Store was born. Today, we are proud to offer the largest selection of men's and women's shoes and boots in Alaska.
Our mission is to provide our customers with a comfortable fit, expert advice, and the finest walking shoe, boot, clog, and sandal brands. Our Locations
We welcome you to visit one or all of our convenient store locations. Our Downtown Anchorage location in the 5th Avenue Mall Lower Atrium Level offers the largest selection of women's boots and men's shoes and boots. This location also offers a wide selection of outerwear and apparel along with a comprehensive sale section to shop for great deals.
Our South Anchorage location, located across from Carrs Fuel Station, is our boutique location where we sell trendy clothing lines and accessories, along with our popular shoe brands and The North Face outerwear. This location is perfect for those looking for a more intimate shopping experience.
Both of our locations pride themselves on providing a comfortable fit, expert advice, and the finest walking shoe, boot, clog, and sandal brands. We understand the importance of finding the right pair of shoes and are committed to helping you find the perfect pair.
Our Services
At The Alaska Walking Store, we offer a variety of services to ensure that you have the best possible experience. We provide expert shoe fitting to help you find the perfect pair of shoes for your needs. We also offer a free Aetrex digital foot analysis to help those who need extra support and alignment. After the analysis, you can purchase a pair of Aetrex insoles to place in your favorite hiking or walking shoe.
We offer in-store shopping at our two convenient locations, as well as private shopping appointments outside of our normal business hours. To schedule an appointment, please email akwalkingstore@ak.net at least 72 hours in advance. Appointments are available at the South store only.
