Established in 1926, our prestigious golf course was designed by none other than A.W. Tillinghast, one of the world's most renowned golf course architects. History of Suneagles Golf Club

Suneagles Golf Course was designed by A.W. Tillinghast, who also created other esteemed courses such as Winged Foot, Baltusrol, Bethpage State Park Black Course, and many more. Although Suneagles may not be as well-known as some of his other designs, it has certainly left its mark on golf history. In 1935, the New Jersey Open took place here, and a young golfer named Byron Nelson won it for his first professional victory. Orville Moody, a U.S. Open Champion, finished as the runner-up in the 1967 All Army Tournament held at Suneagles.

Originally named Monmouth Country Club, the course was purchased by the U.S. Army in 1942 and renamed Suneagles Golf Course. Today, under new management, we are dedicated to preserving the integrity of the Tillinghast traditions on this outstanding 6,357-yard layout while honoring the military personnel who once served at Fort Monmouth.
