Orthopaedic Surgical Associates, LLC, led by board-certified orthopedic surgeon Jimmy M. Meet Dr. Jimmy Tamai

Dr. Tamai's educational journey began at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry. He then pursued his Doctor of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Afterward, he completed an internship at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Tamai moved to Fairbanks in 1992 and served as staff orthopedic surgeon at Bassett Army Community Hospital on Fort Wainwright. Following his military career, he practiced at Tanana Valley Clinic and the Advanced Medical Centers of Alaska.

Dr. Tamai has extensive experience diagnosing and treating a wide variety of orthopedic issues, including elbow pain, rotator cuff injuries, meniscal injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and ACL repairs. He is proficient in regenerative medicine techniques such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), as well as cutting-edge amino fluid injections (Juvenate) and hyaluronic acid injections, such as Durolane, Supartz, Euflexxa, Hyalgan, and Orthovisc. Whenever possible, Dr. Tamai recommends conservative care options, exploring nonsurgical treatments before considering surgical intervention.
