About Cake That
Cake That was born from a lifelong passion for beautiful, delicious desserts. Years ago, owner Mindi Odell took a decorating class simply for fun. This sparked a flame, igniting a desire to explore the world of cakes in greater depth. Having many young friends fueled her practice, providing endless opportunities to hone her skills. As her talent blossomed, she realized her passion could serve a wider audience. In 2016, she launched Cake That, a testament to her love of baking and her desire to share her creations with others.
Operating within the vibrant community of Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish, Louisiana, Mindi is dedicated to crafting custom cakes, cupcakes, and desserts for weddings and special occasions. Each creation is a reflection of her commitment to quality and artistry. In 2018, Cake That took a significant leap, opening its first licensed bakery. This expansion allowed Mindi to create a welcoming space for private parties, classes, and summer camps for children, adding a new dimension to the Cake That experience.

Experiences beyond Cake
Cake That offers more than just delicious cakes; it provides memorable experiences. Our "Nailed It" parties offer a fun and interactive evening out. Guests gather to recreate a surprise demo cake, adding a competitive and celebratory element. You're welcome to bring your favorite adult beverage to enjoy while unleashing your inner baker. We require a minimum of 10 guests for private parties and can accommodate up to 14 guests in-house. For larger events, we are happy to travel to your preferred location.
We also foster young talent through after-school classes held on Tuesdays, following the APSB school calendar, from 5:00-6:30. Children delve into the world of baking, learning essential kitchen skills, food safety practices, team building, and gaining confidence. They'll create diverse recipes each week, taking home the knowledge and recipes to enjoy the experience beyond the classroom.
In the summer, we offer exciting summer camps, Monday through Thursday, for two hours each day. Campers engage in a creative journey, designing their own cakes, baking, frosting, and crafting personalized fondant decorations. With guidance and encouragement, they'll learn at their own pace, leaving with their own "Cake Boss" masterpiece-a true testament to their creativity and newfound baking skills.
