Montezuma Winery

At Montezuma Winery, we're proud to share our story with you. Our journey began over thirty years ago, when George Martin, a passionate beekeeper, started a honey production and pollination business with his wife Virginia and son Ed. The business grew to include two thousand hives across Maine, New York, Florida, and South Carolina. However, with dropping honey prices and increasing costs, the family had to adapt and find new ways to market their honey.

Our History

In 1998, the Martin family began niche marketing their honey, and Bill, one of the sons, started experimenting with mead making and home brewing. This led to the family applying for a farm winery license in 1999, and commercial production of honey wine began. Soon after, Martin's Honey Farm and Meadery in Sterling, New York was born. In 2001, the Martins realized the importance of their location in the fruit belt of New York and decided to try their hand at making fruit wines. The concept of Montezuma Winery was then formed.

We produce high-quality grape wines, fruit wines, and honey wines, including Riesling, Blueberry, Rhubarb, and our most popular, Cranberry Bog.
