Real Estate Closings
Martin Wilson, Attorney at Law specializes in real estate closings. To make this process easier, the firm has prepared a wealth of information to help buyers and sellers understand what to expect and what will be required of them.
*General Closing Information*
Once the firm begins handling a closing, both buyers and sellers will need to fill out and complete the relevant Information Form:
- Buyer Information Form
- Seller Information Form
The completed Buyer or Seller Information Form can be faxed to 478-471-7884 or emailed to LoanPackages@martinwilsonlaw.com.
*Attendance at Closing*
If any individual who will be signing closing documents is unable to attend the Closing at the firm's office, they must indicate that on the Information Form and return it to the firm as soon as possible. The individual should then coordinate with the firm to allow for:
- Documents to be prepared prior to the Closing to be signed off-site and overnighted to the firm's office (additional fees will apply)
- A Power of Attorney to be prepared for the individual not attending the Closing to allow another individual to sign on their behalf (additional fees will apply)
- Review of an existing Power of Attorney prior to the Closing to verify its sufficiency under Georgia law
The Original Power of Attorney must be brought to the Closing, as it will need to be recorded prior to being returned.
*Non-Individuals as Parties to Closing*
If any party to the closing is an LLC, a Corporation, a Partnership, a Trust, an Estate, or other entity, additional documentation may be required by the firm.
