Fire Sign Cafe

At Fire Sign Cafe, we're proud to be a Lake Tahoe institution, serving our community with delicious homemade food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for over 40 years. Our story begins in 1978, when local restaurateurs Brian and Lynne Barton opened the cafe with the passion and energy of their fire sign personalities. Their dream was to create a go-to breakfast and lunch spot on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, and it's been a tradition ever since.

Our History

With the partnership of Bob and Christi Young, who bought full ownership of the cafe in the 80s, Fire Sign Cafe became an iconic fixture in the community. For 40 years, the Youngs ran the cafe with dedication and love, making it a staple of Lake Tahoe life. In 2020, the cafe was sold to Lake Tahoe native Rick Brown, who brings his own passion for the community and love for food to the table. Today, Fire Sign Cafe is part of a group of sister restaurants, including Chambers Landing Bar & Grill and Swiss Lakewood.

The Annex

Located behind the main restaurant, The Annex is our to-go coffee and breakfast hub. Grab a cup of locally-roasted coffee, a breakfast sandwich, or a breakfast burrito to go, and start your day off right.
