Our Story
Our founder, Ed Sanchez, has been working with windows since 1983. With a background in window manufacturing, Ed realized that replacement windows didn't last as long as original ones, and it was a better choice for homeowners to restore their original windows. In 2000, Ed opened a new company, the first of its kind in Orange County, CA, called Window Restoration and Repair. As homeowners increasingly grew to maintain the original craftsmanship of their historic homes, the business grew, and Ed took on a business partner. In 2013, they sold the company, which by then had an excellent reputation. Ed's new company, Home Window Repairs, brings windows back to efficient working operation, in the counties of Ventura, and Santa Barbara.

Why Restore Windows Instead of Replacing Them?
95% of all windows built since 1865 can be repaired, regardless of the material used to make the window. Historic windows have irreplaceable old growth wood, are joined together with craftsmanship no longer done, and sometimes even have wavy glass. They are of very high quality by today's standards, which was taken for granted back then, and having lasted 100 years so far, when restored are more weather-resistant, and will outlast the replacements available today.
Benefits of Keeping Historic Windows
Restoring your historic windows saves money, preserves the character of your home, and maintains the original craftsmanship. Replacement windows can range in cost from several hundred to over a thousand dollars, depending on the material and features.
