Welcome to the Milwaukee Bicycle Collective, a volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making bicycling accessible to all communities. Since 2002, we have provided refurbished bicycles, repair services, and educational programs in a supportive, creative environment. Our shop offers affordable adult and youth bikes, including road, mountain, hybrid, and specialty models, all sold with one year of free repair service. We prioritize community impact by focusing on underserved populations and reinvesting sales revenue into our operations and outreach initiatives. Our DIY repair stands and volunteer programs empower individuals to learn bike maintenance while contributing to our mission.We also host youth bike giveaways through partner organizations and offer repair assistance for young cyclists. Located in Milwaukee's Merrill Park neighborhood, we operate seasonally with regular Saturday hours and limited Monday evenings. While we currently cannot accept full bicycle donations due to space constraints, we welcome parts and accessories. Services
Bike Sales
We offer a wide selection of adult and youth bikes including road, mountain, hybrid, cruiser, tandem, and specialty models. All bikes are refurbished and road-tested, sold with one year of free repair service (parts extra). Our inventory rotates regularly with donated bikes and includes both standard and unique frame sizes.
Bike Repair
Professional repair services cover all bicycle types with qualified mechanics available for complex issues. We provide DIY repair stands for self-service maintenance with volunteer guidance. Suggested donation of $5-10/hr (after first 30 minutes) covers tool usage and stand access. Repairs include adjustments, tune-ups, and parts replacement.
Youth Programs
Our youth initiatives include free bike distributions through partner organizations and safety-checked refurbished bikes for purchase starting at $15. We offer repair assistance for youth bicycles when volunteer capacity allows. Educational components teach basic maintenance to young cyclists through hands-on volunteer support.
Volunteer Program
Earn bike credits at $3/hr by volunteering (minimum two bikes prepared for sale). Opportunities include mechanic work, parts sorting, and shop assistance. No prior experience needed - we provide training for all skill levels. Volunteers limited to one bike redemption per year, supporting our mission of cycling accessibility.
Donations
We accept bicycle donations (any condition), parts, tools, and accessories during open hours. Donation receipts available for tax purposes. Currently unable to accept roof racks or full bike pickups. Monetary donations via PayPal or checks support parts procurement, operational costs, and community programming expansion.

What types of bikes do you sell?
We sell refurbished adult and youth bikes including road, mountain, hybrid, cruiser, tandem, unicycle, folding, and recumbent models. Inventory changes regularly based on donations.
Do you offer repair services?
Yes! We provide professional repairs by qualified mechanics and DIY repair stands with volunteer guidance. Services include tune-ups, adjustments, and parts replacement (parts extra).
Can I volunteer without bike experience?
Absolutely! No prior experience needed. We'll train volunteers for tasks from basic maintenance to complex repairs. Earn bike credits at $3/hour toward purchasing a bike.

Can I donate my old bike?
Yes, but current space constraints limit donations. We temporarily suspend bike donations until spring 2025 - please consider buying a bike to help free up space first!
