Our Story

Master Mowing has been a fixture in the Greater Lansing community since 2009. The company was founded by a resourceful East Lansing High School student, Emmet Dettweiler, who started mowing lawns in his neighborhood to finance his college education. His dedication to providing exceptional service at a fair price quickly gained him a loyal following. By his freshman year of high school, Emmet had amassed a clientele of 12 weekly customers, many of whom remain with Master Mowing to this day. This early success sparked Emmet's entrepreneurial spirit and he recognized the potential for growth.

Over the years, Emmet reinvested all of his profits back into his company, equipment, and most importantly, his employees. This commitment to growth enabled Master Mowing to expand its services and clientele. Master Mowing began to formally compete with other local landscaping businesses by adding trucks to its fleet and expanding its service offerings. The company experienced significant growth, taking on more commercial clients alongside its dedicated residential customer base.

Despite facing challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, Master Mowing remained committed to providing stable employment and benefits for its team. The company's stellar management team and Emmet's unwavering dedication helped propel Master Mowing to new heights. In 2016, the company moved into a larger shop in Lansing, marking a significant milestone in its expansion.
