Our team of experienced gardeners has been dedicated to providing the highest quality plants and gardening supplies for over 46 years. We believe that everyone should be able to afford new, rare, and unusual plants and shrubs, which is why we work hard to offer our selection at affordable prices.
Our History
Big Bloomers Flower Farm first opened its doors in 1978 as Wenger's Greenhouses on Hawkins Avenue. In 1994, we moved to our current retail location on Pressly Foushee Road, adjacent to our growing facility. Today, we operate on six acres of an original 40-acre family farm, with 17 retail greenhouses representing over 30,000 sq. ft. of enclosed greenhouses. We also have a 3,000 sq. ft. Garden Shop area filled with garden-related merchandise such as garden statuary, fountains, metalwork, and pottery.
Our Services
Big Bloomers specializes in new, unusual, and native perennials, annuals, herbs, and shrubs. We offer seasonal crops such as poinsettias, garden mums, and Easter lilies, as well as a fabulous selection of pansies each fall. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and gardening advice to help our customers achieve their dream gardens.
Our Commitment to Quality
Big Bloomers is a bona fide NC farm that grows specifically for the home gardener. We are not just a retail outlet, but the grower ourselves. This allows us to offer substantial savings directly to our customers. Because of the numerous varieties of species we offer, quantities are limited, and we sell retail only, without offering wholesale or quantity discounts.
Our Reference Lists
We have compiled a variety of reference lists to help our customers make informed decisions about their garden selections. These lists include information on plants that are compatible with southern gardens, plants that perform best in zones 6, 7, and 8, and plants that attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and pollinators. We also have lists for deer-resistant plants, drought-tolerant plants, evergreen perennials, fragrant perennials, and more.
