With over 15 years of experience in the industry, we have built a reputation for delivering high-quality alteration services with a personal touch. Our business is run solely by Kathy Peterson, an accomplished alterations specialist, who has honed her skills over the years working for various alterations companies and dry-cleaners. We specialize in Bridal Alterations, including wedding gowns, bridal party attire, suits, and tuxedos, among others.

Our Story

Sew It Up started in 2005 in the basement of our home in Hermantown, Minnesota. Kathy's husband, Blaine, encouraged her to start her own business after he was called to active duty in the Army. With two weeks' notice, Kathy put in her orders for equipment and supplies, and Blaine built her a sewing room. Since then, Kathy has built an extensive career in the alterations industry, learning from many talented seamstresses. After spending 15 years as a stay-at-home mom, Kathy and Blaine have decided to start a new chapter in their lives by moving to Burnsville, Minnesota, in March 2020.

Meet Kathy

Kathy Peterson is the owner and head seamstress of Sew It Up. She was raised in a family of "do-it-yourselfers" and learned the art of sewing from her mother. In high school, she worked in an alterations department of an upscale department store and later in college at a dry-cleaner and bridal shop. She has over four decades of experience in the bridal alterations industry, and she is committed to providing her clients with the perfect fit for their special day.
