Anthracite Animal Clinic, located in Ashland, PA, is a full-service veterinary practice dedicated to providing the highest level of care to animals in Schuylkill County and the surrounding areas. Established in 1980 by Yvonne T. Walacavage, VMD, the clinic has continued to thrive under the leadership of Dr. Kate Harnish since its reopening in 2011. We are committed to upholding the legacy of excellent healthcare, integrity, teamwork, and compassion that has defined our clinic for decades.

Dr. Kate Harnish, a 2002 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and a 2006 graduate of Temple University, took over the practice after studying veterinary medicine at St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of various professional organizations, including Phi Zeta International Veterinarian Honor Society, PVMA, AAHA, and AVMA. Dr. Harnish is devoted to her patients, her team, and the community, as evidenced by her receiving the Public Award of Merit in 2014 from PVMA.
