Cedar Creek Saddle Club

- Location: 394 Pleasant Chapel Road, Cedar Creek TX 78612
- Directions: Access Cedar Creek Saddle Club by following Hwy 71 towards Bastrop, passing HWY 21, Turn right on HWY 20, go about six miles and turn right on Pleasant Chapel Rd. The ranch headquarters will be on your right.
- Hours: Haul-ins must have an appointment made 24 hours in advance.
- Fees: $10.00 daily for use of the arena only, $150.00 Rider's annual pass (including discounts on lessons, clinics, and overnight pens).
- Mileage: about 4.5 miles of trails (note: trails across the street from the arena are no longer available at this time).
- Terrain: Black dirt, sand, clay, and rocky in spots. Horse riding trails wind through the woods, providing lots of shade, and include some up and down gullies and a few steeper grades.
- Facilities: Bunkhouse (being updated), restrooms, running water, approximately six hook-ups with electricity and water, plenty of parking space, three arenas, barn, pens, and paddocks.
Onion Creek Metropolitan Park, Austin, TX
Onion Creek Metropolitan Park is another fantastic destination for horseback riding enthusiasts. The following is a recent review and updated information provided by a valued WTTA contributor:
- Location: Onion Creek Metropolitan Park, 7409 Wild Onion Dr., Austin, TX
- Parking and Access Area: Please refer to the directions provided below to reach the equestrian access to the park.
- Directions: To access the equestrian parking area from IH-35, exit onto William Cannon Dr. and head east. Pass the HEB on your right and turn right at Pleasant Valley (Citco gas station on the corner). Do not take the first left onto Onion Creek Drive, but continue down Pleasant Valley almost to the end. Turn left at the last street junction onto Onion Creek Drive and proceed two blocks to Wild Onion Dr. The grassy area between Wild Onion Dr. and Ladybug St. is the equestrian parking area. Use the driveway cutouts to access the parking area.
- Trailhead #2: From the Equestrian Parking Area (7409 Wild Onion Dr.), walk across the street and locate the cable/post fence. At the end of the fence (near the blue house), find the gap in the fence and follow the edge of the woods back approximately 140 yards. Look for ribbons marking the trail entrance and take the path to the right, leading you to Valley Loop Trail (Trailhead #2). Turn left and follow this trail down until it connects
