Our Story
Ohana Surf Camp was founded by Rodrigo Cardenas, a dedicated ocean enthusiast who started his own surf camp and surf school in Ventura near Santa Barbara to inspire the next generation to become stewards of the ocean, all while learning and reinforcing ocean safety. Rodrigo aims to educate children and adults about ocean safety and help them develop a love for the ocean, one wave at a time.

Our surf instructors are certified, experienced, and passionate about surfing and ocean safety. We provide wetsuits and surfboards for all our lessons. Surf Camps
We offer summer surf camps in Ventura, California, for ages 5 to 14. Our camps are designed to provide a safe, fun, and educational experience for all our campers. Our staff-to-camper ratio is 1:5, ensuring that each camper receives personalized attention and guidance. We provide wetsuits, rash guards, and surfboards for all our campers.

Q: What is the difference between our camp locations?
A: Both camps are designed with surfing and safety in mind. Mondo's campers tend to be older, 10-15, and are intended for surfing only. In contrast, Marina campers enjoy a greater variety of ocean-related activities such as surfing, boogie boarding, and water play.
Q: Will my teenager fit in?
A: Absolutely! We recommend teens sign up for our Mondo's Camp.
Q: What if I have never surfed before?
A: That is why you chose us! Our professional staff will teach all levels from beginner to novice to experienced.
Q: Do I need my own equipment and wetsuit?
A: No, we provide every camper with a wetsuit, rash guard, and surfboard.
Q: What if my child has separation anxiety?
A: With our 5:1 ocean ratio, we have enough staff to work individually with a child to work through any anxiety or fears.
Q: Can I stick around?
A: We do not recommend this because of performance anxiety. From experience with my own two little ones, they thrive much better when I am not around.
Q: Are swimming skills required?
A: No, we begin each week with a short swim assessment. We want to know what swimming skills our campers have. This helps us work with our campers in a way that is safe and enjoyable for everyone.
