At VanHoecks Footwear, we've been proudly serving Grand Rapids and West Michigan for nearly 80 years. Our story began in 1940 when our founder, Bernard VanHoeck, opened an orthopedic shoe store specializing in Dr. Scholl's Shoes. Over the years, we've evolved to become a full-service shoe store, catering to customers with unique foot needs. In the 1970s and 1980s, we transitioned to a men's and women's shoe store, focusing on extended sizes and widths.

In 1993, we expanded to the corner of Ottawa and Monroe Center in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. Our vision was to create a warm and welcoming environment that allowed customers to browse our vast collection of men's and women's shoes in comfort. As the downtown area evolved, becoming more entertainment-focused, we faced the challenge of finding a new location that would meet the needs of our customers.

After closing our original location in 2012, we continued to receive requests from customers who struggled to find proper-fitting shoes in other stores. Recognizing the demand for a full-service shoe store that catered to unique foot needs, we searched for a new location that would offer ample parking, easy access, and a welcoming atmosphere. Today, our store on East Paris Avenue in Grand Rapids is the perfect destination for anyone seeking a comfortable and personalized shoe-buying experience.
