Our Story
As a San Jose native, Alex has always had a deep love for animals. After years of working as a doctor's assistant, surgical nurse, and neurology nurse, she decided to pursue her dream of starting her own pet sitting business. In 2012, While You Were Out was born, fueled by Alex's passion for entrepreneurship and her love for animals.

We offer a comprehensive range of services designed to cater to the unique needs of your pets. Whether you need dog walking, pet sitting, or post-operative care, our certified and experienced team is here to help. Our services include:
- Dog Walking: Up to three dogs; proper harness required
- Pet Visits: Tailored to your specific pet's needs; defined by free in-home consultation
- Vacation Visits: We believe dogs, specifically, shouldn't be alone more than 12 hours; 2 visits per day required
- Post Operative Care Visits: Tailored to your specific pet's needs; estimate provided after free in-home consultation
- Trail Walk: Limited capacity so sign up early; proper harness required
- Veterinary Visits: Pick up and drop off included
