Experienced and Dedicated Optometrists

Dr. Edward P. Hernandez, a respected figure both in the medical community and in public service, brings a wealth of experience to Dr. Hernandez Optometry. His journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cal State Fullerton, followed by a prestigious scholarship to Indiana University School of Optometry, where he met his wife, Diane. Upon returning home, they established their first practice in Dr. Hernandez's hometown of La Puente, a testament to their commitment to serving the community. His dedication to patient care extends beyond the optometry office, as he has served as a California State Senator and Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, where he played a vital role in shaping state healthcare policy. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and accolades, recognizing his exceptional contributions to both the optometry profession and the community.

Dr. Diane M. Hernandez, a skilled optometrist with a passion for patient care, shares her husband's dedication to providing exceptional vision care. Earning her Bachelor of Science from Indiana University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry, she brings a wealth of knowledge to our practice. Dr. Hernandez is actively involved in professional organizations, including the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to advancing the field of optometry. Her compassionate approach and commitment to patient well-being make her a valued member of our team.

Dr. Alma Fragoso-Corona, a seasoned optometrist with over 20 years of experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Dr. Hernandez Optometry. Dr. Fragoso-Corona's dedication to patient care and her fluency in Spanish allow her to effectively serve a diverse patient population. Her expertise extends beyond diagnosing and treating eye diseases; she is also skilled in contact lens fitting, refractive surgery co-management, and diabetic retinopathy management. Dr. Fragoso-Corona's commitment to ongoing education ensures that our patients receive the most up-to-date and effective care possible.

Dr. Salena Thong, a highly skilled and motivated optometrist, joined our practice, bringing her fresh perspective and comprehensive clinical experience. Dr. Thong's journey began with a strong foundation in science, earning a degree in Molecular Environmental Biology from UC Berkeley. She then honed her clinical skills during her Doctor of Optometry program at the Illinois College of Optometry, including an internship at the Illinois Eye Institute. Dr. Thong's passion for delivering patient-centered care and her commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in optometry make her a valuable asset to our team.
