Crested Hen Farms

Welcome to Crested Hen Farms, the original barn venue of the Hudson Valley. Nestled on the banks of the Rondout Creek and situated at the base of Mohonk Mountain, our farm spans 32 acres of picturesque landscape. At the heart of our farm is a carefully repurposed English-Dutch dairy barn from the 1830's, now serving as a 3,000 square foot event space. This unique space boasts soaring ceilings, large hand sewn beams that are original to the structure, and historic charm that is maintained through careful renovations. Crested Hen Farms is proud to offer a flexible pricing structure and a range of amenities, including farm tables and chairs, antique pews, mismatched antique china and silverware, bon fires, valet parking, and antique props for decorations.

The Region and History

Crested Hen Farms is located in High Falls, a charming hamlet situated in the Rondout Valley of the Mid-Hudson Valley. The region is known for its rich history, dating back to the 17th century when it was founded by the French Hugenots in New Paltz. The region's natural beauty and resources have made it an attractive area for tourism and agriculture, with the Hudson Valley serving as the "bread basket" of New York City. The area is also known for being the "Silicone Valley of the East", thanks to New York State sponsored tax incentives for tech companies. The Rondout Valley, where Crested Hen Farms is located, is a beautiful area that offers a range of activities, from hiking and biking trails to canoeing and kayaking and even rock climbing.

The Rondout Creek, where Crested Hen Farms is nestled, is a central feature of the region. Its name is derived from reduyt, the Dutch equivalent to the English word redoubt, meaning fort or stronghold. The creek begins at Rocky Mountain in the Catskill Mountains and winds around Ulster and Sullivan Counties for 63.3 miles before ending in the Hudson River near Kingston, NY. The Rondout Valley is particularly known for its extensive hiking and biking trails, numerous places for canoeing and kayaking, snow skiing in the winter, and some of the most challenging rock climbing in the world.
