Disappointing Experiences with Howe and Bassett
Many customers have had terrible experiences with Howe and Bassett, a contracting company that failed to deliver on its promises. The company's poor communication, lack of professionalism, and subpar workmanship have left customers feeling frustrated and disappointed.
Unreliable Communication
One customer, R. K., reported that Howe and Bassett's communication was very challenging. Emails were ignored, phone calls and texts were unreliable, and workers would show up unannounced or only stay for a few hours. This lack of communication led to confusion and frustration for the customer.
Poor Workmanship
The company's workmanship was also subpar. R. K.'s bath remodel was plagued by issues such as a shower that leaked, a toilet that was installed too high, and a lack of adequate flushing power. The customer had to hire another plumber to fix these issues. Additionally, tools and materials were left in the house and garage for weeks or even months, and the water was turned off to the kitchen for a weekend.
Unclear Estimates and Contracts
Susan M. had a similar experience when she hired Howe and Bassett to help with issues with her stucco walls. The company's manager, Randy, spent 30 minutes assessing the situation and claimed that another company had done a poor job setting up the drainage system. However, the contract was informal and included loopholes for additional costs. The company charged Susan $364 to dig a hole to assess the situation, but refused to apply a credit for the initial $100 assessment fee.
