Our History

Franklin First Federal Credit Union has a rich history rooted in community service. Our story began with the vision of four separate credit unions - the Franklin County Public Hospital FCU, the Franklin County Teachers FCU, Lunt Silversmiths, and the Greenfield Tap & Die Credit Union - all dedicated to serving the people of Franklin County. Recognizing the power of unity and collaboration, these credit unions joined forces in a historic merger, forming Franklin First Federal Credit Union.

This merger marked a turning point, allowing them to expand their reach and offer a wider range of financial services to their community. In 1995, Franklin First took a significant step forward by constructing a central office and branch at 57 Newton Street. This modern facility became a hub for members, providing a welcoming and convenient space for all their financial needs.

Five years later, in 2000, Franklin First made strides toward greater inclusivity by applying for community charter status with the National Credit Union Association. This achievement opened the doors of membership to anyone who lives, works, or worships in Franklin County, solidifying their commitment to serving the entire community.
