Empowering Lives One Ride at a Time

Little Britches Therapeutic Riding has been proudly serving individuals with disabilities in the Greater Connecticut area since 1979. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of those with disabilities through the power of therapeutic riding.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enrich the lives of people with disabilities using the movement of the horse. We provide therapeutic and equine-assisted riding programs to empower individuals with physical, emotional, cognitive, and social challenges.

What is Therapeutic Riding?

Therapeutic riding is a form of therapeutic intervention that utilizes horsemanship activities to improve physical, emotional, cognitive, and social functioning in individuals with disabilities. Participants benefit from:

  • Improved muscle tone, balance, posture, and coordination.
  • Increased self-esteem and confidence.
  • Improved sensory integration and processing.
  • Enhanced core strength and posture, leading to better breathing and speech production.

What We Offer

Little Britches is a member center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) and offers:

  • Certified PATH Intl. instructors and therapists.
  • Equine-assisted activities and therapy for over 80 riders weekly.
  • Programs for riders with physical disabilities and para-equestrians.
