Setting a new bar for the Deli
The 2nd Ave Deli has been a beloved New York institution for over half a century, serving up hearty, filling, and soul-satisfying meals to locals and visitors alike. Founded by the late Abe Lebewohl, the deli quickly gained a reputation for its thick deli sandwiches, expertly prepared meats, and traditional Jewish delicacies.
Our Heritage
Abe Lebewohl, a showman and a character as big as the city itself, transformed his tiny Village eatery into a New York landmark. Attracting hundreds of celebrity patrons, the 2nd Ave Deli became a favorite spot for those seeking a hearty, authentic meal. From our famous chopped liver to our delicious chicken soup, our menu features traditional Jewish delicacies that are just like Bubbie's - but better.
Our Menu
At the 2nd Ave Deli, we pride ourselves on serving only the highest quality meats and ingredients. Our pastrami, for example, is dry-cured for over a week in salt, spices, and peppercorns, then carefully smoked to perfection. Our matzoh ball soup, known as "Jewish penicillin, " is the perfect cure for what ails you. And our hand-carved lox, the crowning glory of a bagel and schmeer, is simply unparalleled.
Of course, no Jewish deli would be complete without chopped liver, and ours is the best you'll ever have. And with signature dishes like our pastrami deviled eggs, gefilte fish, and assorted desserts, there's something for every palate.

Whether you're planning a special event or simply looking to enjoy our delicious fare in the comfort of your own home, our take-out and catering menus offer a wide variety of options. From sandwiches and salads to soups and sides, we've got you covered.
