Westmoreland Cleanways

Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and maintaining the environmental qualities of Westmoreland County for the benefit of all who live, work, and visit here. Our mission is to educate the public on the importance of proper waste disposal, provide resources for recycling, and support community programs that promote environmental sustainability.

Our Services

We operate a recycling center that accepts hard-to-dispose materials, including electronics, Christmas trees, and household hazardous waste. Our recycling center is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and on the second Saturday of each month. We also offer special events recycling programs and commercial recycling services.

In addition to our recycling services, we provide bi-monthly household hazardous waste collections and sponsor community programs that address the proper disposal of solid waste. We also support the cleanup of illegal dumpsites and littered areas, and educate the public through presentations, print and digital media, and educational resources such as our compost guide, recycling guide, and videos and factsheets.

Our History

Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling became an Affiliate of Keep America Beautiful in 2011, attracting strategic partnerships and nationally recognized litter prevention, recycling, education, and beautification programs to benefit our community. We have been instrumental in initiating and facilitating programs that bring together a network of volunteers, industry leaders, and state and local government representatives to promote environmental sustainability in Westmoreland County.
