Our Story

Welcome to Surf Ballard, Ballard's first and only surf shop. We're located on a prime spot, just steps away from the Puget Sound, and we're known as Seattle's premier surf and stand up paddle shop. Whether you're looking to walk across the street and take a cruise on one of our stand-up paddle boards or drive to the coast for a surf session, we've got everything you need to take advantage of Washington's unique waterways. We're passionate about providing the best experience for our customers, from renting surf gear to taking lessons with our Washington Surf Academy. Our instructors offer a full roster of one-of-a-kind stand up paddle lessons and surf camps, and our WASUP Yoga stand up paddle yoga classes are the first in the entire state. We're also proud to host a variety of surf-related events throughout the year, including surf movie nights with live music to art openings. And, if you're looking for a quick bite or a refreshing treat, our food truck Winnebago out front serves ice cream, coffee, juices, smoothies, and other tasty treats.

Rent Surf Rentals

At Surf Ballard, we have everything you need to hit the waves. We offer surfboard rentals, wetsuits, booties, and gloves. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, we have the right gear for you. Our surfboard rentals include shortboards and longboards, and our wetsuits are designed to keep you comfortable in the water. We also offer packages that include a board, wetsuit, booties, and gloves for a single day, two days, or three days. This is the perfect way to try out surfing without investing in your own gear. And, if you need any advice or have questions, our staff is here to help.

SUP and Kayak Rentals

If surfing isn't your thing, we also offer stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and kayak rentals. Our SUPs are perfect for exploring the Puget Sound or other local waterways, and our kayaks offer a great way to see the city from a different perspective. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day on the water or an adventure, we have the right equipment for you.

Shop Learn Events

In addition to renting gear and taking lessons, we also have a shop where you can purchase your own surf gear. Our knowledgeable staff can help you find the perfect board, wetsuit, or other accessories. We also host a variety of events throughout the year, from surf movie nights to art openings. These events are a great way to meet other surfers and enjoy the surf culture.
