Guiding Principles of Operation

Founded in 1932, Tidewater has evolved into a multi-commodity transportation and terminal company serving the diverse and evolving transportation needs of the Pacific Northwest, Canada, and beyond. We respect the privilege of operating on the waterways of the Pacific Northwest. Together, we accept responsibility for adhering to these guiding principles:

  • We will maintain safe operations which meet or exceed all regulatory and industry established standards.
  • We will operate in a manner which protects our communities, our environment, and our customers.
  • We will strive to maintain a leadership position within our industry through constant innovation and improvement.
  • We will earn the trust and respect of our customers and our communities by maintaining the highest levels of service, professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
  • We will achieve excellence by accepting responsibility and accountability for the actions of ourselves and our co-workers, while fostering a working environment of growth, encouragement, and mutual respect.

Our Services

Tidewater Barge Lines handles grain, refined petroleum products, wood products, liquid and dry fertilizers, and all types of containerized freight and project cargo over the full length of the Columbia-Snake River System. We own 14 towboats and 160 barges and are maintained with Tidewater's full-time staff of mechanics, electricians, and welders using multiple moorages and a drydock. We are proud of our culture of safe operations and environmental stewardship.
