Our History

Founded in 1934 by Lois E. and William C. Barclay, Sr., our funeral home has been a family-owned and operated business for over 85 years. William C. Barclay Jr. joined the staff in 1960 and became a licensed funeral director in 1963. In 1975, the business was purchased by Mildred T. and William C. Barclay, Jr. from his parents. Today, the business is still owned and operated by the Barclay family, with William C. Barclay III, the third generation, joining the staff as a licensed funeral director.

Our Services

At Barclay Funeral Home, we offer a wide range of funeral services to meet the unique needs of each family we serve. Our traditional funeral services include visitations, funerals, and burials, as well as cremation services. We also provide no-cost, no-obligation pre-need arrangements, giving families the opportunity to plan ahead and make informed decisions about their funeral expenses. Additionally, we offer the option to prepay through the New Jersey Prepaid Funeral Trust Fund.

Our Staff

Our staff is comprised of experienced and compassionate individuals who are dedicated to providing exceptional service to families in need. Our senior director, William C. Barclay Jr., is a lifelong resident of Clayton and a graduate of Clayton High School, Wesley College, and Eckels College of Mortuary Science. He is a licensed funeral director and has worked in the funeral industry for over 40 years. Our staff is committed to providing personalized options to meet the unique needs of each family we serve.
