At Legal Services of Greater Miami, we are committed to building a community of equal justice. As a non-profit law firm, we have been advocating for the removal of legal barriers to economic prosperity and striving to achieve a more just and equitable community for over five decades. Our mission is to provide innovative, effective legal services to low-income communities in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, creating a positive impact on the community as a whole.

Our History

Our story began in the late 1960s, and since then, we have been making a difference in the lives of thousands of individuals. From successfully suing the State of Florida and the City of Miami Police Department to challenge a law that criminalized community members experiencing homelessness and joblessness, to winning a landmark case in the U.S. Supreme Court, Fuentes v. Shevin, we have been at the forefront of the fight for justice. We have also created projects such as the Aids Legal Advocacy Project, which advocated for greater access to healthcare and housing, and fought discrimination. Our disaster response unit has also been instrumental in providing aid to those affected by natural disasters.
