Mission and Philosophy

Wye River Upper School (WRUS) is a school dedicated to changing the lives of bright and gifted students with learning differences. We believe that not all great minds think alike, and we strive to fully engage each student in challenging educational experiences that build their skills and self-confidence. Our mission is to position students for success and fulfillment in all walks of life, and we are committed to providing an education that goes beyond just academics.

History of WRUS

Wye River Upper School was founded in 2002 with the goal of providing a unique and exceptional learning environment for gifted students with learning differences. Since then, we have grown to serve students from eleven different counties across the region, and our average class size of six to eight students ensures a personalized and focused learning experience. We are nationally and regionally accredited, and we hold an MSDE certificate of approval for elementary grades 6-8 and secondary grades 9-12.
