Lake Alexander RV Park is a quiet, spacious, family-owned and operated campground located near Momence, Illinois, within a 1-hour drive of Chicago. The camp is 120 acres of natural beauty on the banks of the Kankakee River. The wooded habitat abounds with fish, wildlife, and native plants, and we offer many amenities for recreation and relaxation.
Our History
Our campground was founded by Joe and Thecla Kwak in 1965, who transformed a property of farmland and bottomland hardwood forest along the Kankakee River into a campground. Over the years, Lake Alexander functioned as a vibrant, social, and recreational center for campers near and far. Many families from Chicago stayed for weekends or the entire camping season, as a respite from their hectic lives in the city. The Kwak family also hosted many big events, such as Boy Scout jamborees, bluegrass music festivals, and Civil War reenactments.
Our Amenities
We offer a wide range of amenities to make your stay with us comfortable and enjoyable. Our campsites are spacious and peaceful, with electric and water hook-ups, and sanitary stations and holding tanks for your convenience. We also have two small ponds, a concrete boat ramp, and boat storage available for campers. Our recreation hall is equipped with restrooms and showers, and we have a campstore on site for all your needs.
