Tyse Tutoring and Test Prep is a full-service tutoring center that has been dedicatedly serving the academic needs of students from 6 to 22 years old since 1994. Based in Boulder, Colorado, we offer a wide range of services, including SAT/ACT test prep, academic tutoring, math and science instruction, literacy development, and speed reading. *Math and Science Instruction*
Math and science are integral subjects in education. Our tutors are skilled and knowledgeable in math levels up to BC calculus and high school chemistry and physics. They provide instruction in pre-algebra through calculus, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and data analysis, as well as physics and chemistry. Our tutors provide an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages students to develop their mathematical and scientific thinking.
*Literacy Development and Speed Reading*
We offer literacy intervention using the Barton Method, which is a research-based, multi-sensory, and structured literacy program. It is designed for students who have dyslexia or other reading difficulties. Our literacy instruction includes phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension. Our speed reading program aims to help students read faster and more efficiently, enhancing their ability to tackle textbooks, articles, and other written materials.

Our History
Tyse Tutoring and Test Prep began in 1994 in Cupertino, CA, founded by Blair Tyse, an aerospace engineering and physics graduate. The company has since grown, offering a wide range of services to students from 6 to 22 years old. Our team of experienced tutors is passionate about education and dedicated to providing the highest quality of instruction and support.
Meet the Tutors
Blair Tyse, Owner
Blair graduated with aerospace engineering and physics degrees in 1989 and has worked as a communications satellite engineer and a teacher. She specializes in SAT/ACT Test Prep, pre-algebra through calculus, and literacy intervention through Barton tutoring. With over 28 years of tutoring experience, she enjoys working with kids and teens and finds math problems and editing essays fun.
Erik Tyse, Partner
Erik graduated with a chemical engineering degree in 1983 and has worked as a chemical engineer, designing battery energy systems for weather and communications satellites as well as the Space Station. He has worked as an SAT/ACT test prep tutor and teaches IB/AP Chemistry, AB/BC Calculus, and AP Physics. He enjoys working with teens and college students and enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and carpentry.
