Our History

Wauconda Pharmacy has been a local family-owned business for over 100 years. Charles F. Buschick purchased the pharmacy from Charlie Haller in the 1930s and then sold it to Bill Lacey in the 1950s. Lacey owned it until the 1970s when he sold it to Ed Bruner. After 30 years, his son, Terry, took over the business and still owns it today. The pharmacy has gone back to working as a more traditional pharmacy by compounding prescriptions (using custom drug formulations to better meet a patient's needs). In 2005, Wauconda Pharmacy built a state-of-the-art compounding lab and added a U.S.P. 800 compliant lab in 2020.

Compounding Services

Pharmaceutical compounding is the art and science of preparing customized medications for patients. Our compounding services include human compounding, veterinary compounding, and pharmaceutical compounding. We also offer Metagenics and Orthomolecular products.

Human Compounding

Our human compounding services cater to patients who require unique dosages and delivery devices. We compound medications in various forms, including solutions, suppositories, sprays, oral rinses, lollipops, and transdermal sticks. Our compounding applications include Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Hospice, Pediatric, Ophthalmic, Dental, Otic, Dermatology, Medication Flavoring, Chronic Pain Management, Neuropathies, Sports Medicine, Infertility, Wound Therapy, and Podiatry.

Veterinary Compounding

Our veterinary compounding services cater to pets that require customized medications. We can make medications in different forms and flavors to make it easier for pets to take their medications. Our experienced compounders work closely with veterinarians to ensure that pets receive the right medications in the right form.
