Our Team
Our team of licensed doctors includes Aimee N. Staley, Psy. D. and Kevin J. Weis, Psy. D. Both doctors have specialized training and extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of psychological and neuropsychological issues.
Dr. Staley is a clinical psychologist with a specialty in neuropsychology. She has over 20 years of experience in the field, and her practice involves the neuropsychological assessment of children, adolescents, and adults. She assesses for cognitive and memory deficits secondary to a variety of neurologic conditions, including dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumor, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's Disease.
Dr. Weis is a licensed psychologist with specialized training in the treatment and assessment of children and families. His practice is primarily centered on completing assessments for the detection of ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional difficulties, and developmental delays/difficulties. He believes in recognizing strengths and focusing on the individual rather than their "disorder." He believes in changing family systems, rather than laying blame on one individual.
Services Offered
At Lifespan Psychology, we offer a range of psychological and neuropsychological services, including:
- Neuropsychological Testing / Assessments: A neuropsychological evaluation involves testing that is sensitive to problems in brain functioning. Unlike CT or MRI scans, which show what the structure of the brain looks like, neuropsychological testing examines how well the brain is working when it performs certain functions (for example, remembering). The types of tests you will take depend upon the questions you and your doctor have.
- Psychological Testing / Assessments: A psychological assessment is a process which involves measuring and integrating information from multiple sources, such as tests of emotional functioning, behavior, ability, intelligence, interests, perceptions, and will also include behavioral observations. Collateral information will also be collected about personal, occupational/educational, or medical histories, such as from records or from interviews with parents, spouses, teachers, or previous therapists or physicians.
- Psychoeducational Testing / Assessments: A psychoeducational evaluation measures an individual's intellect, academic mastery, and emotional functioning. Often times emotional factors affect a child's ability to achieve academic mastery. Yet, other times cognitive factors, may influence emotional functioning. Testing does not often indicate, "Which came first, " but will likely differentiate an individual's strengths and weaknesses and provide recommendations for educational and therapeutic interventions.
