Keeping the Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne Communities Clean and Safe
The Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Recycling District is dedicated to ensuring the safe and sanitary disposal of solid waste for our residents and reducing reusable or renewable wastes from entering landfills within the District. We strive to achieve this mission through the development of residential and industrial programs that educate, promote, provide, implement, and improve recycling opportunities. Our goal is to preserve landfill space now and into the future.
Background of The Recycling District
On June 24, 1988, House Bill 592 became effective, requiring the boards of county commissioners of all of Ohio's 88 counties to form Solid Waste Management Districts, either individually or jointly. This legislation aimed to address the growing concern of solid waste disposal in the state. As a result, the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Recycling District was formed to oversee and manage the waste management needs of Stark, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties.
Services Offered
The Recycling District oversees and partners with facilities for recycling and waste pick-up and drop-off throughout Stark, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties in Ohio. We provide a range of services including household hazardous waste collection, tire recycling, scrap metal collection, electronic waste recycling, and computer disposal. Additionally, we offer programs such as the Master Recycler Program, which educates residents on recycling practices, and the Recycling Receptacle Loan Program, which helps households and businesses acquire recycling containers. Our goal is to make recycling accessible and convenient for everyone in the District.
