Providing Justice for All

Missouri Legal Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free legal help to low-income and disadvantaged residents of Missouri. With over 875,000 individuals in Missouri struggling to make ends meet, our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to legal assistance, regardless of their financial situation. We serve 115 counties in Missouri, and our team of experienced attorneys and staff are committed to providing high-quality legal services to those who need it most.

Programs

At Missouri Legal Services, we offer a variety of programs to assist our clients. These programs include legal aid programs, which provide free legal help to those who cannot afford it. Our legal aid programs cover a wide range of legal issues, including consumer law, domestic violence, housing, and more. We also offer clinics based on interest, such as our Free Legal Clinic at St. Louis Public Library's Central Branch, Gene Taylor Veterans Clinic in Springfield MO, and SMBA Clean Slate "Expungement" Clinic, among others.

Types of Free Legal Assistance Provided

Our legal aid programs provide a variety of free legal assistance, including legal advice, representation in court, and assistance with legal documents. We understand that seeking legal help can be overwhelming, which is why we strive to make the process as easy as possible for our clients. Our attorneys and staff are trained to provide legal assistance in a compassionate and understanding manner.

How to Get Legal Aid

If you need legal assistance, you can apply for legal aid at the legal aid program that serves your county. You can apply by telephone or online with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Legal Services of Southern Missouri, or the Legal Aid of Western Missouri. Once your application is reviewed, you will be contacted by one of our attorneys or staff to discuss your legal issue and determine the best course of action.

Missouri Tenant Help

We understand that many of our clients may be facing eviction and may not be able to afford an attorney. That's why we provide a link to the Missouri Tenant Help website, which can help self-represented persons defend themselves in court. The website can produce a document which a tenant can file with the court where their eviction is pending. Additionally, the website has tons of helpful information about evictions.

Be Involved

At Missouri Legal Services, we believe that everyone can make a difference. If you are interested in getting involved, we have employment opportunities and pro bono opportunities available. You can also donate to support our mission and help us continue to provide free legal help to those in need.
