Our Mission
Our mission is to support a diverse, multicultural population of pre-kindergarten children and their families in Denton County by providing quality, affordable childcare and early childhood education. We believe in placing special emphasis and attention on serving children from low to middle-income families, ensuring that every child has access to the opportunities they deserve.
About DCCDS
Denton City County Day School (DCCDS) is a nonprofit preschool serving a multicultural community since 1952. Our school recognizes the uniqueness of each child and provides positive encouragement for the child's continued growth. We pride ourselves on offering developmentally appropriate, child-centered, experiential learning that enables our children to think critically, work cooperatively, and solve problems creatively.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum encourages children to develop a healthy and positive self-concept through individualized instruction. Our school environment offers children hands-on learning experiences for more abstract concept development and opportunities for creative learning. This allows children to make sense of what they are learning and to connect or integrate their knowledge in ways that lead to rich conceptual development.
Our Vision
DCCDS is committed to providing research-based curriculum and instruction that embraces developmentally appropriate early childhood education practices. Aimed at enhancing young children's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth, DCCDS uses child-centered, hands-on learning activities within a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
Our Purpose
The ultimate purpose of DCCDS is to ensure pre-kindergarten children's success as productive citizens, community members, and creative, critical thinkers and problem-solvers in present and future academic endeavors and in real-world work-life experiences.
Red Flags and Concerns
The reviews express multiple concerns regarding the daycare's management and staff. Authors Chris Johnson, Eboni Williams, and Eira share their negative experiences with the daycare. They highlight issues with poor communication, unprofessional staff, and a lack of qualified teachers. Chris Johnson specifically mentions the poor teacher-to-student ratio and high turnover rate, while Eboni Williams shares a personal experience of her son being bitten multiple times without any reports being made. The authors urge others not to bring their children to this daycare until new staff and a new director are in place.
Positive Experiences
On the other hand, authors Dili Raj Subedi, Alondra Swint, Candy Brown, N. Tremblay, and Vanessa Rios share their positive experiences with the daycare. They praise the teachers' hard work, the school's small size, and the friendly staff. Dili Raj Subedi's daughter enjoyed her time at the school, while Alondra Swint's son loves going there and already feels at home. Candy Brown's son has learned a lot, and N. Tremblay's granddaughter loves the school. Vanessa Rios is happy with the teachers and recommends the school to her friends and family.
