Our Story

Salvatore Melice, the founder of Sal's Pizzeria, moved to Ithaca, New York from Canicaitti, Sicily in 1974. With over 40 years of experience in the pizza business, Sal's passion for traditional Italian cuisine has been passed down through generations. In 1989, Sal opened Sal's Pizzeria, where he was joined by Joe Tilton in 1990. Together, they brought over 80 years of experience to the table, ensuring that every pizza that leaves our kitchen is made with love and care. In 2020, Sabrina Tilton, Joe's daughter, joined the family business as a partner, bringing a new generation of enthusiasm and dedication to the table.
